Voicemail in writing, and a backup for calls out

Voicemail and recorded calls written out for you, a second provider when the first fails, and easier transfers.

Yesterday we wrote that AI would soon do some of the listening for you. The first part of it is built, and so is a handful of things people asked for this week.

Read your voicemail

Each voicemail is now written out under the message: on the Voicemail page, in the app, and in the email that tells you it arrived. A recorded call is laid out as a conversation, who said what and in what order, and pressing a line plays the recording from that moment. The call log and the recordings can be searched by what was said, by anyone allowed to hear the recordings.

Your callers' voices are kept private: the audio is removed as soon as the text is back, and each business switches it on for itself.

A backup for calls out

An outgoing rule can now list several trunks in order. When the first is down, or its provider refuses a call, the next is tried straight away and the call goes through. Nobody has to notice.

The honest part

Voicemail and calls in writing, fax and texts are in production. The backup trunk is in testing: it has yet to meet a real provider refusing a call. We keep checking how well the writing out copes with island place names, Pidgin and calls that move between languages. If something gets in your way, tell us and we will change it.
