We do not sell personal information, we do not show advertising, and this website has no analytics or tracking. What we do collect is described below.
Who we are
Kahevo is made by Gohoku, an IT company in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi ("we", "us"). This policy covers this website, the Kahevo phone system when we host it or support it for a business, and the Kahevo app for phones. It does not cover other websites we link to.
This website
What you send us. When you ask for a quote, contact us as an IT company, or register as a partner, we keep what you type into the form:
- your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number;
- your business's name and, for a quote, your island, how many people answer the phones, what you use today and your message;
- for a partner registration, your company's website and street address, a contact person, any notes, and whether you agreed to be shown on our partner map;
- the time you sent it, and the internet address it came from, so that we can stop abuse of the forms.
We use it to answer you, to prepare a quote, to decide on a partner registration and to keep our business records. If you agreed to be shown on the partner map, only your company's name, city and website are shown there, never your contact details. To place a partner on the map, the street address you give is looked up with OpenStreetMap's address service.
The robot check. Our forms check that a person is sending them with a small puzzle your browser works out. It is our own, runs in your browser, and tells nobody else that you visited.
Cookies. Opening a form sets one cookie, which protects the form from being sent by another website in your name. It is not used to follow you. We set no advertising or analytics cookies.
Fonts. The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them, and Google receives your internet address and browser details as it would for any web request. Google's own privacy policy applies to that.
Logs. Like most websites, our servers note the requests they receive, such as the time, the page, the internet address and the browser, to keep the site secure and to put problems right.
The Kahevo phone system
When we host or support Kahevo for a business, we look after information that belongs to that business: the names, extensions and email addresses of its people; its call history (numbers, times and how long each call lasted); its voicemail, call recordings and the text of either; its text messages, pictures and faxes; its contacts; and its settings.
The business decides. We handle this information on the business's behalf and only to run, support, secure and improve its phone system, as our agreement with the business says. The business chooses whether calls are recorded, whether voicemail and recordings are written out as text, how long things are kept, and who in the business can see them. If you called or texted a business that uses Kahevo and have a question about your information, please ask that business first, and we will help them answer you.
Calls and voicemail in writing. This is off until a business switches it on. The audio is used only to produce the text, and is removed from the transcription system once the text is back. We do not use a business's calls, voicemail or messages to train AI models, and we do not sell them.
Keeping it safe. The passwords phones and providers use are encrypted where they are stored, sign-in passwords are kept only in a form that cannot be turned back into the password, connections to phones, the website and the app can be encrypted, and only the people who need to are given access. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell an affected business promptly if its information is exposed.
When Kahevo runs on a server in a business's own office, the information stays on that server, and we see it only while we are supporting the business.
The Kahevo app
The app is a phone for a business's Kahevo system, used by that business's people. To do that it uses:
- your sign-in to the business's Kahevo system, kept on your phone so you stay signed in;
- a notification address from Apple, so that your phone can ring for a call and show new messages, even when the app is closed;
- your microphone, during calls only;
- your camera and photos, only when you choose to send a picture or a fax;
- the internet address the app connects from, to tell whether you are at the office when you have asked your desk phone to ring first.
The app does not ask for your location, does not read your phone's own contacts, shows no advertising and does not follow you across other apps or websites. Your calls, voicemail and messages in the app are the business's information, described above.
Who else sees it
We share information only as needed to provide what you or your business asked for:
- Telephone, text and fax carriers carry a business's calls, texts and faxes to and from outside numbers, and receive the numbers and content they need to do that.
- Email services chosen by the business deliver its voicemail, fax and other notices.
- Apple delivers the app's notifications.
- Google Fonts and OpenStreetMap, as described under This website.
- The law. We may disclose information when the law requires it, such as a valid court order, or to protect someone's safety in an emergency.
- A change of ownership. If Gohoku or Kahevo were sold or merged, information would pass to the new owner under this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and partner registrations from this website for as long as we need them to answer you and to keep our business records, and we delete them sooner if you ask, unless the law requires us to keep them. A business's phone system information is kept for as long as the business's settings and its agreement with us say.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can ask us to stop contacting you. We will answer promptly, and we may need to confirm who you are first. Information a business holds in its phone system is answered through that business, as described above.
Children
This website and the Kahevo service are for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with the date it takes effect. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page and tell the businesses we serve.
