High availability for customers who cannot let the phones go quiet. The groundwork is built and in testing.
Some customers cannot let the phones go quiet: a ward in a hospital, a call center at its busiest hour, a hotel desk at check-in. For them we are building high availability into Kahevo itself, and the groundwork is now built and in testing.
The design
Two or three Kahevo servers on your own network run as one phone system. Each is a whole Kahevo, so there is no extra hardware in front to fail, no clustering software to buy and no license per node.
Built and in testing
| Groundwork | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Servers that watch one another | A failure is noticed in seconds |
| Never two in charge | A broken network cannot split the system in two |
| A takeover order you set | You decide who stands in for whom |
| Joining with your approval | No machine becomes part of it unless you say so |
| A check of the whole setup | One button says what is right and what to fix |
| An email when a server goes quiet | You hear before your customers do |
The honest part
Taking over from a failed server is next, and none of it has yet run on two real machines.
