Set your status from the web page or the phone, and choose where your calls go for each.
Each person now has a status.
Three states
| Status | Your phones | Calls for you |
|---|---|---|
| Available | Ring | Reach you |
| Away | Stay quiet | Go where you chose for away |
| Busy | Stay quiet | Go where you chose for busy |
"Where you chose" can be your mailbox, a colleague, a group, or nowhere, in which case the caller is told you are unavailable. Sending calls to an outside number, such as your mobile, needs an administrator to allow it for you.
It applies everywhere
While you are away or busy, a ring group skips you. A call transferred to you goes straight to your mailbox. It applies to calls from colleagues as well as from outside, because "do not disturb" should mean it.
Setting it
- Buttons on the web phone panel.
- A Status page.
- From any phone: *78 for busy, *76 for away, *79 for available.
Phone and web keep each other honest
This was the fiddly part. Press the do-not-disturb key on a desk phone and the web page follows, because the key is set up to dial the code. Change your status on the web page and the desk phone's own indicator follows, because the system tells the phone.
Either way the two agree. A phone showing do-not-disturb while the system thinks you are available is how calls go missing.
For colleagues
Busy shows on other people's busy lights, so the front desk can see not to send you a call. Away does not light them: you are not on the phone, you are just not there.
