The dashboard is now everyone's: missed calls to return, new voicemail and messages waiting, the moment you sign in.
Yesterday we wrote about a dashboard each person arranges. It had one gap: it was for people who run the phone system. Everyone else signed in to a page with a dial pad on it and went looking for what they had missed. Today the dashboard is everyone's.
What you see when you sign in
Someone with no admin rights at all now starts here, with panels about their own day and nobody else's.
| Panel | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Missed calls | Everyone who rang you this week and did not reach you |
| New voicemail | Who left a message, when and how long |
| Messages waiting | Unread conversations, and customers owed a reply |
| My calls today | Placed, answered, missed and time talking |
| My phones | Which of your phones will ring right now |
| My keys | Your desk phone's keys, with live lamps |
There are also panels for your queues, your faxes and your recent calls. Like every panel, they can be moved, resized or taken off.
Missed, unless you have talked since
The missed calls list is not a log. If someone rang at nine, and you spoke at ten, they are off the list, whichever of you called. What is left is who you still owe a call, each with a Call back button.
Only what is yours
A person without access to the whole system's figures is shown their own panels and nothing else. That is decided by the server, not by the page, so there is nothing to pry open.
People who do run the phone system find the same panels in the picker, under My day.
Two small things
- The list of calls in progress now keeps its place when nobody is on a call, so the page stops jumping about.
- On a server shared by several businesses, how many park lines a business has is now one of the limits set for it, beside calls, extensions and storage.
The honest part
This is in testing, and newer than most. A call that rang you only as part of a ring group is listed under the group, not under you, so it is not among your missed calls yet.
