Park a call on a numbered line and pick it up from any phone.
"Call for you on park 2" is a thing you can now say.
How it works
Parking is for the call that needs to follow a person, not a phone. You answer at the front desk, the caller wants someone who is somewhere in the building, and you do not know which phone they are near.
- Transfer the call to a park line. Line 1 is *001, line 2 is *002, and so on.
- The caller hears hold music.
- Anyone, on any phone, dials the same code to pick the call up.
How many lines
Ten are switched on to start with, and the system supports up to fifty. If a line is already taken, the park is refused and the call stays with you, so two callers never end up on the same line.
One-press parking
A desk phone key can be set to a park line. Its light shows when someone is waiting there, pressing it during a call parks that call, and pressing it when the light is on picks the caller up. That is the whole workflow on one button.
If the caller gives up
A parked caller who hangs up frees the line at once, and the light goes out.
What it does not do yet
There is no timer that rings back the person who parked a call if nobody collects it. Until there is, the light on the key is the reminder. Offices that page "call on park 2" over a speaker tell us it rarely comes up.
