- shown whole, on a background color you pick,
- or filling the screen, with the edges trimmed.
A logo usually wants the first. A photo of the office or the beach wants the second.
Sized for every screen
Desk phone screens come in a surprising number of shapes. The catalog knows each model's screen size, and the system makes a copy of your picture at exactly that size for each one.
The work is done once, when you upload, not every time a phone asks. A phone just receives a finished file.
Phones notice a change
Upload a new picture and each phone fetches it at its next check-in. Remove it and it stops being sent.
Small on purpose
Each copy is kept under 200 KB. A phone's screen is small, and a larger file would look no better. It also means the picture travels comfortably to branch offices over their link.
Which phones
Models with a color screen. Black-and-white models are left alone.
Why bother
It is a small thing. But an office's phones are on every desk, in front of every employee and every visitor at reception, all day. A logo there makes the phones feel like they belong to the business and not to whoever sold them.
